The word compete comes from Latin. Quite literally, it means strive together. Nobody wants to show you the hours and hours of becoming. They’d rather show the highlights of what they’ve become. We tend to overemphasize the natural, the individual born with talent, whom everything seems to come effortlessly and easily. Potential is one thing, what we do with it is quite another. Research suggests that reaching true mastery of a field requires 10,000 hours of deliberate practice. We will discuss how to grow passion and perseverance to endure such an effort.
